  • number of rooms;

  • preferred living area;

  • furnished or unfurnished preference; and

This may include profile information and text you provide to Becozey in order to create a personalised response to a rental listing.

We recommend that you only provide personal data that is necessary for the relevant functionality.

  • your name;

  • your email address;

  • the content of your message;

3. Where do we obtain your personal data?

We obtain personal data primarily:

  • directly from you when you create an account, set preferences, purchase a subscription or contact us;

  • automatically when you use our website or web application;

  • from our payment provider Mollie where necessary to process and administer payments; and

  • from analytics and advertising providers where you have given the required consent.

4. Why do we process your personal data and on what legal basis?

We only process personal data where we have a valid legal basis.

4.1 Performance of a contract

We process personal data where necessary to perform our agreement with you, including to:

  • create and manage your account;

  • store and apply your search preferences;

  • provide rental alerts and other parts of the Service;

  • provide functionality for personalised responses or application letters;

  • manage your subscription;

  • process payments; and

  • respond to questions about your account or subscription.

The legal basis for these activities is the performance of our contract with you.

4.2 Legal obligations

We process certain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations.

This may include obligations relating to:

  • our financial administration;

  • tax requirements;

  • payment and invoice records; and

  • requests from competent public authorities where legally required.

4.3 Consent

We rely on your consent for processing activities for which consent is legally required.

This includes:

  • analytics technologies, including Google Analytics and PostHog; and

  • marketing and advertising technologies, including Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel and, where used, Google Ads technologies.

You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before your consent was withdrawn.

For more information, please see our Cookie Policy.

4.4 Legitimate interests

In certain cases, we process personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests.

Our legitimate interests may include:

  • securing our Service and user accounts;

  • preventing and investigating fraud and misuse;

  • handling and administering customer support requests;

  • protecting and exercising our legal rights; and

  • maintaining relationships with existing customers where direct marketing is permitted by law.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we assess whether our interests are outweighed by your privacy interests and fundamental rights.

Where electronic marketing requires consent, we request consent before sending such marketing.

5. Email and marketing communications

We may send you emails that are necessary to provide the Service, including:

  • account and security messages;

  • rental alerts;

  • payment and subscription messages;

  • service notifications; and

  • important changes to the Service.

These communications form part of the Service and are not marketing communications.

We may also send marketing communications where permitted by law.

Where consent is required for marketing, we only send such communications after you have given consent.

Where the legal exception for existing customers applies, we may send information about similar Becozey services provided that the applicable legal conditions are met.

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the relevant message or by contacting us.

Opting out of marketing does not affect necessary service or transactional messages.

6. Who do we share personal data with?

We do not sell your personal data.

We only share personal data where necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

We currently use service providers including:

Where session recording is enabled, input fields are configured so that their contents are masked.

Meta
For Meta Pixel and advertising measurement, only where you have consented to marketing technologies.

TikTok
For TikTok Pixel, advertising measurement and conversion attribution, only where you have consented to marketing technologies.

Where Google Ads technologies are used, we use them for advertising measurement and attribution in accordance with your consent choices.

We may also share personal data with:

  • professional advisers, such as accountants or legal advisers, where necessary;

  • public authorities where we are legally required to disclose information; and

  • authorised parties where necessary to investigate or deal with fraud, misuse or legal claims.

Where required, we enter into data processing agreements with service providers that process personal data on our behalf.

Some third-party providers may also act as independent controllers for certain processing activities. In such cases, their own privacy policies may also apply.

7. International transfers of personal data

Some of the service providers we use operate internationally and may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”).

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure that an appropriate transfer mechanism and safeguards are used where required by applicable data protection law.

Depending on the service provider, this may include:

  • an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission;

  • participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable; or

  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Where necessary, we assess whether additional safeguards are appropriate to protect personal data in connection with international transfers.

8. How long do we retain personal data?

We do not keep personal data for longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we are legally required to retain it for a longer period.

We generally apply the following retention periods:

Account information, search preferences and profile information
For as long as your account remains active. After deletion or termination of your account, this information may be retained for up to 3 months for technical processing, backups and completion of the deletion process, unless a longer period is legally required.

Payment, invoice and administrative records
Generally for 7 years where these records form part of our legally required financial administration. Where a specific tax regime requires a longer retention period, we apply that period.

Cookie and tracking information
Retention periods differ depending on the technology used. Please see our Cookie Policy for further details.

Customer support and correspondence
For as long as necessary to deal with your request and any related follow-up. Information may be retained for longer where necessary for a legal obligation, dispute or legal claim.

Marketing information
Until you unsubscribe or object to the use of your data for marketing. We may retain a minimal suppression record afterwards to ensure that your opt-out continues to be respected.

Fraud and security information
For as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and resolve a security incident or suspected fraud or misuse.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

Becozey uses cookies and similar technologies, including Local Storage, pixels and scripts.

These may include:

  • strictly necessary technologies;

  • Google Analytics;

  • PostHog;

  • Meta Pixel;

  • TikTok Pixel; and

  • where applicable, Google Ads technologies.

Non-essential analytics and marketing technologies are only activated after you have given the required consent.

For more information about the technologies used, their purposes, providers and retention periods, please see our Cookie Policy.

You can change your preferences at any time through the Cookie Settings available on our website.

10. Automated decision-making and profiling

Becozey does not use your personal data to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

Where you have given consent, analytics and advertising providers may use information to create audience groups, measure advertising performance or make advertising more relevant.

For more information, please see our Cookie Policy and the privacy information provided by the relevant provider.

11. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

Depending on the relevant processing, these measures may include:

  • encrypted connections using HTTPS;

  • access restrictions;

  • secure authentication;

  • limiting access to personal data to people and service providers who need it; and

  • technical and organisational security measures implemented by our service providers.

Where password authentication through Supabase is used, passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes and are not stored in readable form.

No system can guarantee complete security. We therefore review our security measures periodically and update them where necessary.

12. Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR, depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • obtain access to the personal data we process about you;

  • have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected;

  • have your personal data erased;

  • restrict the processing of your personal data;

  • object to certain processing activities;

  • object to the use of your data for direct marketing;

  • receive personal data you provided to us in a portable format;

  • withdraw your consent at any time; and

  • in certain circumstances, have your data transferred directly to another organisation.

Not every right applies in every situation. For example, we may be required to retain certain personal data where this is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

You can submit a request by contacting:

support@becozey.com

We may ask you to provide additional information where necessary to verify your identity.

We generally respond to requests within one month, in accordance with the GDPR.

13. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with the way we process your personal data, we encourage you to contact us first so that we can investigate your complaint.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority:

  • applicable law or regulation changes; or

  • an update is otherwise necessary for legal or operational reasons.

The latest version will always be available on the Becozey website.

Where important changes materially affect how we process personal data, we may provide additional notice where appropriate, for example by email or through the Service.

Where consent is required for a new processing activity, we will request consent before that processing begins.
